Called to the Bar in British Columbia in 1999, Mike spent fifteen years as Crown Counsel before entering private practice. At the Crown he worked in the Special Prosecutions Unit, prosecuting complex criminal matters, including murder, kidnapping and organized crime. He was one of the lead prosecutors in R. v. Lilgert, the Queen of the North criminal negligence causing death trial. He also spent time with the British Columbia Securities Commission as enforcement counsel.

Since leaving the Crown, Mike has specialized in complex civil negligence cases. He has conducted numerous civil trials, before judges and juries, has assisted hundreds of clients with the resolution of their matters, and has had conduct of numerous commercial matters. He has appeared at all levels of court in British Columbia.

Mike was called to the Bar in Alberta in 2023. He guest lectures in personal injury advocacy at the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia.

David Gomel was called to the British Columbia bar in 2006 and began his career at an insurance defence firm, where he learned how institutional defendants assess, reserve and defend claims. In 2008 he moved to the other side of the courtroom and has acted for injured people since.

From 2011 to 2026 he practised at KazLaw in Vancouver, where he conducted numerous trials in the Supreme Court of British Columbia. Having prepared cases from both the defence and the plaintiff side, he brings to each file a practical understanding of how the opposing party will value it and where a claim is likely to be tested at trial.

He is a member of the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia and the American Association for Justice, and volunteers with the Lawyers Assistance Program of British Columbia. [Education, named cases and any additional detail to be added by David.]
